Town Hall post meeting
Last night we had a Town Hall meeting at the Celista Hall. In total roughly 100+ people came out and we heard from the Chase RCMP detachment and then discussed many topics of interest for the North Shuswap. The top topics that garnered the most discussion were Bylaws and Enforcement, Firehalls and the Health Centre. I’ve attached my PowerPoint slides, and some notes that were taken during the meeting. The notes are not extensive but capture some of the discussion.
There are a number of questions that came up last night that I didn’t have answers for and I will be trying to get more information. I will post it when I receive it.
If you have questions don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thank you Jay for being there for our community. It’s sometimes hard to remember you are not the CSRD but our representative. Keep up the good work
Thanks, Jay . I didn’t make it to the meeting but this sounds like a pretty full report.
as a person in attendance to the town hall, i get the idea that i am not the only one who thinks something is amiss with our medical centre … yes, there are a shortage of physicians, and yes, we all understand it is not a walk-in clinic, but … why is there no transparency in which this centre is run…. how do we know OUR tax dollars are working for us and not somewhere that obviously doesn’t need it as much… whoever it is that runs this centre with its day to day operations should be answerable to those pays for it with their taxes … not the overlords in victoria ….
Hi jay
I’m so sorry I couldn’t make it to your meeting which I really wanted to go . However, I really would like to know what was discussed and if there’s anything that was finalized or concluded.
Especially if the water or sewer system in Scotch Creek was discussed and if there was any conclusion to it. Also, the health clinic and the fact we don’t have enough doctors here..
Hi Maggie, You should have received my email regarding the results of the meeting. There are a few items I’m pursuing more information for.
