    The Question:
Should North Shuswap residents use tax dollars to provide programs and education for local children?

    The Background:
North & South Shuswap Community Resources (NSSCR.ca)
In the North Shuswap, during the summer months we offer our swim program. We have a session schedule in the North Shuswap August 12th-22nd, 2019. Regularly scheduled programs like preschool and drop in programs don’t operate during the summer as the nature of summer in the Shuswap has people outdoors and on the lake. We’ve experimented with some scheduled programming over the years and haven’t had good attendance. In the fall we will begin our preschool programming again in Celista. We will offer another Home Alone & Babysitting Course. We are just starting the Early Years program planning and will let you know what is determined with those programs for the program year running from Sept-June.

    2018 estimated usage
22 % of our users live in the North Shuswap,
77% South Shuswap and 1% are from other communities.

    The Cost:
Area F estimated cost: $.015/$1000 assessment on your property taxes
    ($1.50/$100,000)

Youth programs are a part of a vibrant and appealing community. By providing these programs you’re telling people that are thinking about moving to our community that we care about the development of their children. It is one more check mark for young families as they’re looking to relocate.
